At our last Village Board meeting, I had the honor of recognizing several of the Hinsdale Fire Department’s firefighter-paramedics for their extraordinary efforts during a life-saving emergency response — an act of heroism that earned them the 2025 Joseph R. Hartmann, M.D. Award for EMS Excellence.
Captain William Claybrook, Robert Patitucci, Nicholas McDonough, Ryan Dudek, Jasmeet Sanghera, and Nicholas Chism demonstrated the kind of quick thinking, clinical skill, and teamwork that made all the difference — and serve as a powerful reminder of the dedication and courage behind the uniform.
As we celebrate our independence, let’s also celebrate those who help safeguard it every day. Thank you to our first responders for answering the call, protecting lives, and serving our Village with honor.

The IAFF Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Treatment and Recovery is a one-of-a-kind addiction treatment facility specializing in PTSD for IAFF members – and IAFF members only – who are struggling with addiction, PTSD other related behavioral health challenges to receive the help they need in taking the first steps toward recovery. It is a safe haven for members to talk with other members who have faced or overcome similar challenges.
